And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will
of God.
You are welcome to a fresh new day, which you shall surely Excel in
Excellence.
Previously we came to understand that to have a mind under
renewing, which will be able to make a choice of the good, the acceptable and
the perfect will of God, we must prevent the mind viruses. Read the previous
post for further explanation.
In today's devotion we shall go on with the tips
for renewing the mind.
5. Embark On The Mind Renewing Process
Renewing
the mind is changing the mind from its old functions to new and better
functions in a continuous approach. The greatest challenge with having a
progressive mind is change. Change is a process not a platform; it is a
journey not a destination; it is the streets and roads not the bus stops. The
actualisation of change is not based on a promise but is based on precepts and
process. Develop a hunger for change. Extra hunger is the fuel that ignites
change in progress. The human mind is a channel through which things-to-be are
coming into the realm of things-that-are. So also the human mind is the
action room; the thought is the processing area, while the attitude is the
product. The core purpose for renewing the mind is to have a personality
transformation. In other wards, for you to be transformed, you must pass through
renewing. Let us go further to itemizing the keys for renewing the mind.
I. Guide
Your Gates
In addition to stopping the conformity of the mind to
wrong standards and preventing the mind viruses, you also have to develop self-control. Your self control is your gate man. If you can
guide your gates then you can guide your mind. If you can control majorly what
you see and hear, then you can control your products. In Proverbs 25:28 the
scripture says “Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks
self-control."_NIV. In Proverbs 16:32 the scripture says that “He
who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, he who rules his (own) spirit
than he who takes a city". The scripture further encouraged us in
Proverbs 4:23, “Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the
issue of life"_NKJV. From the documented scriptures of the bible, it
is an established truth that lack of self-control over your mind makes you
vulnerable, proned to attack and wrong conformity of the world. Watch out for
the continuation of this segment in our next part. Shalom!
