GROWING INTO MATURITY PART 2
THE EXCELLING WORD FOR TODAY
1 Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Prior to this series, we saw it in
our scripture text above that, just like new born babies, crave for their milk
uncontrollably, so also we should hunger & crave uncontrollably for the
sincere MILK of the WORD. And also we came to understand that it takes MILK to
grow fast and better. So to grow in the spirit we need to keep looking for the
sincere MILK in Gods Word. So we have to pick up the bible always and search
for those simple and powerful word from Gods mouth, drink it like a MILK and
keep your growth going.
Let us consider this scripture:
Romans 8:29; For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestined to be CONFORMED to the IMAGE of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brethren. Please I implore you to take a deep thought,
study and meditation about the word CONFORM, you will find out the following
truths about it:
1. To act in accordance with
EXPECTATIONS; to BEHAVE in the manner of someone.
2. To BE in ACCORDANCE with a set of
SPECIFICATIONS or REGULATIONS, or with a POLICY or GUIDELINE.
3. To MAKE SIMILAR in FORM or
NATURE; to MAKE SUITABLE for a PURPOSE; to ADAPT.
Having considered the following
definitions, let me make do with the third definition. Which says, to make
SIMILAR in FORM or NATURE. Which means we can read again the book of Romans 8:9
for a better understanding as: "For
whom he did foreknow, he also did predestined to be SIMILAR in FORM and
NATURE, (CONFORMED) to the IMAGE
(PERSONALITY), of his Son (who is CHRIST JESUS), also to be MADE SUITABLE to
the PURPOSE of CHRIST, that He (Christ) might be the firstborn among many
brethren.
Please dear readers who are
representing Christ on earth, it is good we remind ourselves that the major
reason God left us on earth and never took us out after we accepted Christ was
for us to GOVERN the earth in the IMAGE of his dear son. So the greatest
expectation of God is to know how much have you been conformed, made suitable,
adapted, changed, transformed to the PERSONALITY (Image) of Christ on earth.
That process of conformity or transformation is your MEASURE of SPIRITUAL
MATURITY.
How much of Christ are you looking
like? How far is the SUITABILITY of your Character with the Character of
Christ?
This is the true measure of
Spiritual Maturity, not the manifestations of spiritual gifts or the excessive
exercise of spiritual affairs.
Please take note once more, this
conformation is a continuous process which when terminated or paused, you begin
to loose form. So don't cut short your growth thinking you have come to a point
of full maturity. Or may be because you can manifest spiritual gifts; you can
pray in tongues, pray for long and can also preach wonderfully, accompanied
with signs and wonders, you start thinking you are mature. Don't be deceived,
those, do not depicts true Spiritual Maturity. In 2nd Corinthians 3:18, the scripture says: And we all, with
unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being TRANSFORMED into the
same IMAGE from ONE DEGREE of GLORY to
another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
TRUE MATURITY IS HOW MUCH OF CHRIST
HAVE YOU BEEN CONFORMED TO. So please make your transformation/conformation
into the image of Christ your priority from today and see how far you will rise
in the wings of the SPIRIT. Enjoy true growth from today.
