When The Lord Sends You Part 2
Luke 9:1-2,10 & 10:1, 17.
10:1 After these things the LORD
appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into
every city and place, whither he himself would come.
10:17 The seventy returned with joy,
saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name._ Amplified.
From the previous devotional study,
that is the part 1 of this series, we were able to decode what went wrong with
the 12 disciples of Jesus when they were sent by Jesus. Although they had
results but they were not acknowledged by Jesus.
When Jesus was through with them in
the inside, after they might have made their blunders. He decided to test run
it again. But this time he appointed 70 unknown people and sent them on same
mission. And it was recorded that they came back with tremendous results. The
scripture never told us who the people were. Despite who/what they were, one
thing I am pretty sure of, is that, those 70 were never closer to Jesus than
the 12, they were never leaders in Jesus' team, they were nameless and even
till now, still nameless.
It is also important to know that
they were not really born again, because Jesus has not yet died on the cross.
So the full price of our salvation has not yet being paid then. But Jesus
needed to test run a new package he was preparing for the redeemed after his
death. He has to prove that he does not need your high level position, title or
status to get the expected result he desires whenever He sends a man. Just like
the 70, they knew who they were, they knew they wouldn't have gotten such
result by themselves. So quickly they realised what really happened. From their
comment, the content of their hearts was revealed: "Lord, even the demons
are subject to us in your name".
Whenever the Lord sends you, and you
are well convinced that he is behind the sending, the few things you need are:
1. Obedience
2. Go In His Name! (Be confident in
Him who have sent you)
3. Strip yourself of every position
or title (Don't let your position get into your head)
4. Give Him (Jesus) the credit of
every exploit in the course of your assignment.
5. Where ever you are, bear in mind
that you are there on His behalf (see vs 1).
The potency of the kingdom
assignment is not completely dependent on the type of the vessel, but rather
its dependent on the Messenger and the Message.
When he sends an empty man and this
same man is aware of the potency of 'Him' who has sent him, and go in the name
of him who has sent him, even the demons will tremble before such an
individual. If this is true, then we should produce more and efficient results
in our time, because we have the Spirit of the Living God dwelling in our
inside, making us born again.
He was happy with the 70 and went
further to confirm to them that He saw the devil fell down like a lightning. He
never said that to the twelve even though they had similar results with the 70,
but they were never able to move down the devil for even an inch. Jesus went
further to empower them over snakes and scorpion. So also when the humble is
empowered, the devil is beneath his feet.
Finally, i leave you with this word,
if you are in the party of the twelve (12), then learn from the seventy (70),
then if you are in the company of the
(70), i tell you rejoice not just because the devil are subject to you
but more because your name is written in the book of life.
I pray the Lord opens our eyes to
see more about this matter.
