OUR BURDEN VS HIS YOKE
THE EXCELLING WORD FOR TODAY
Our Burden Vs His Yoke
Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of
me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden
is light.
My dear readers, i hope you have
been making a proper use of today because today will never come to you again.
Let us consider the words of Jesus.
He said Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest. One thing is certain here, every human is heavy ladened with one
thing or the other. But if any one could answer the call he or she is assured
rest. But why does it look like the reverse is the case today.
In my little years of experience in
ministry, I have seen a lot of believers who always say that following Christ
is not easy. I have seen ministers of the gospel who always wish they were in
the circular business of the world. Some of them go about the ministry's business
with so much anger and regrets and making it look like they were forced into
doing Gods work.
Many church believers have come to
accept these lies and for that, they have refused to follow the course of
Christ with the whole of their heart. When they see some dedicated Christians
in so much sufferings and burdens, it scares them so much, so they are forced
to device various means of handling their burdens. Some through joining various
clubs/meetings, while to some they apply human philosophy. These challenge has
really watered our so called Christianity.
This has really made me to be so
bothered whenever I see any believer in this state, of not experiencing rest.
It also made me to recall times i have had stressful moments trying to do Gods
business and it really got me thinking about this scripture. When the Light of
this scripture came to me, every answer i need became clearer.
My brethren this is the process:
#Step One: Come To Him.
When you come to Him, heavy ladened
and with your burden, he will take it off your shoulders and give you rest, but
that is just the beginning. The bad news is that many of us have stopped at
this level. We expect the REST to come automatically but along the line we
start loosing hope, when the kind of rest we expected is not forth coming. Many
of us start blaming God, finally we will now resolve into regrets and self
pity. But the main answer lies in the next verse; "Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto
your soul". This will introduce us to the next step.
#Step Two: Take My Yoke.
When God takes away the heavy burden
of sin, failure, disappointment, addiction, crisis, guilt etc, he is expecting
you to take up His yoke. Take up the responsibility of becoming His
representative on earth. Get ready to even go out of your comfort zone just to
announce Him on earth. Secondly God does not call a man to be idle in his
kingdom. There is a specific assignment God has prepared for everyone who has
answered this call. So have you discovered yours? If Yes, then Congrat! You are
ready for the next step. But if No, then you need to take up his yoke, because
you will not see true rest just by your own burden being taken off you. There
is a role you have to play in the kingdom. You need to take his yoke today.
#Step Three: Learn Of Him.
This is the bone of contention. Many
of us are not even aware that such phrase was attached to this scripture. What
I see today is a situation where most of the believers come to God, their burdens
are being taken off and immediately they leave without bothering about His own
yoke. Why to some, they take up His yoke and immediately they are off. No
attempt to even learn from who has the yoke. Until you learn from Him, you will
keep having problems, struggles and unrest. This is one of the major problems
of today's ministries. We try to copy what every man is doing that is working
for them or worked for them, neglecting the truth that Gods yoke on us is
unique based on our ability. So let us discipline our selves to learn from Him
alone. Only then shall we FIND REST UNTO OUR SOUL. Check that second verse of
our text again and you will discover that the REST has to be found by you, it
is not automatic.
There are four (4) categories of
people, I saw who have answered this call, in this package:
1. The ones who came with their
burdens, but refuse to drop it because of the fear of His yoke. They will back
it up with a devilish quote like, "the devil you know is better than the
Angel you don't know"
2. The ones who came and dropped
their burdens but have not taken His yoke at all. Due to one excuse or the
other.
3. The ones who have submitted their
burdens and have taken up His yoke, but are too busy and occupied to learn from
Him.
4. These are the very few, who have laid down their burdens, taken up His
yoke and have also disciplined themselves to learn from Him alone.
In all these four categories of
people, the only ones who enjoy easy yokes, are the ones in the fourth. Until
you adopt those three steps you will never know rest in doing Gods assignment.
Please my brethren His yoke is easy,
if only we can learn from Him.
Shalom!
