BECAUSE OF THE WORD Part 2  

Matthew 13:3-8,18-23 20. 
The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away (NIV). 

Please take note that all the seeds that the sower sowed, had one impact or the other on the receiving ground. Some fell on a walking path, which represents the people who hear the Word of God but don't understand it. Some others fell on the rocky ground, which represents the hearts that receives the Word of God with excitement but does not have a strong root in their hearts. Also some other fell on thorns, which represents the people who gets the Word but the worries and deceitfulness of Riches never allowed it to grow at all. While the other few fell on good ground which represents the people who hear and understand in their hearts. My dear readers it is so clear that all the attacks of the 4 types of hearts (people) were because of the Word.  

NOTE 
3. The Thorns Grew 
This third aspect is what touched me the most. If you study it carefully with the help of the spirit, you will discover that we have majority of this group today in our today's churches. Unlike the other two, their attacks came from external factors because of the word, but this particular heart condition's attack came from within, see this; “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. _Vs 22 (KJV)." One of the problems I saw about these individuals, is that they were already thorns in their hearts before the word came in. The thorns did not just appear because of the word, rather they grew. See vs 7: “Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants". Which means the heart itself is his own problem. Their hearts were already contaminated with thorns. 

These thorns here are: >The cares of this world; thinking and desiring the pleasures of life, >Wanting to be like others; Having a girl/boy friend, so that you will not look odd, >The hunger to make money by any slightest opportunity whatsoever, >The desire to belong to the happening guys & babes, etc. And yet, still in the church, still committed to activities, still a worker in the church, still hears the Word of God always. With this expository from this scripture it becomes clearer to me why the Word of God does not have much impact on many of our today's young men and women. Because they keep receiving the Word of God amongst thorns. If they are receiving the Word in such hearts, with the intention to allow the Word to work in them, the Word will definitely correct every thorns. But rather they have already concluded in their hearts that there is nothing wrong in doing those things and they are not only the ones doing them, so theirs will not be different. Therefore with such thinking, definitely no seed of God's Word can survive in such hearts. The greatest danger with such hearts, is that the more they receive the Word, the more the thorns grow to choke the Word. 

Please note, surely, because of the Word the thorns will surely grow. That lust in your heart must surely grow to choke every Word of life that might have given you life and real satisfaction. So beware, not to allow the deceitfulness of riches and the care of this life to choke the Word of life in your heart. Handle the thorns in your heart before it grows, so that the entrance of Gods Word can be fruitful in you. Watch out for the final part by tomorrow.

We saw to it that when the man with the solution of the peoples problem is sitting with the floor members and the prominent men with no solution are sitting up on the high table, sitting in the office of decision making.
